Collective Philanthropy Project 2005 - VietACT

Beginning in 2005, each year uNAVSA will select one non-profit organization that its member groups across North America will support for the remainder of that year. This Collective Philanthropy Project (CPP) entails the education, selection, planning, and execution of a specific initiative affecting the Vietnamese community. But what makes this CPP initiative so powerful is that in the collaboration of VSAs throughout North America, emerging leaders within the community are working hand-in-hand, channeling the passion and activism within the Vietnamese American community to benefit a truly worthwhile cause.

This past July, attendees at the 2005 uNAVSA / VIA-1 Conference held in Chicago, IL voted to select the Vietnamese Alliance Combating Trafficking (VietACT) as the first CPP recipient organization among several other outstanding non-profit organizations. uNAVSA member VSAs are now planning specific events for the upcoming Spring to help VietACT accomplish two goals:

  • Raise awareness about the tragedy of human trafficking as modern-day slavery, particularly as it continues to affect thousands of Vietnamese women and children
  • Raise funds to support the efforts of VietACT

By making a tax-deductible financial donation, VietACT will be able to maintain and expand its counseling and support services for the Vietnamese survivors of trafficking in Taiwan. All financial donation are tax-deductible and 100% goes to the victims.
