The Union of Vietnamese Student Associations of the Midwest (UVSA Midwest) is proud to announce the newly elected Executive Board for the 2012-2014 term. These leaders come from across the Midwest region and are passionate, dedicated and motivated to further cultivate the organization. They will be serving a two year term, ending in the spring of 2014. We are pleased to announce the following individuals as newly elected leaders of UVSA Midwest:
President: Jessica Phan (Wisconsin)
Internal Vice-President: Hung Ly (Indiana)
External Vice-President: Daniel Le (Michigan)
Treasurer: Justin Bui (Wisconsin)
Secretary: Ymi Le (Illinois)
On March 17, 2012, UVSA Midwest had its biannual Executive Board elections at the 10th Anniversary of the Vietnamese Interacting as One Conference (VIA-1). Three leaders emerged from the crowd and took on leadership positions of President, Internal Vice-President and External Vice-President. UVSA Midwest continued the search for Secretary and Treasurer for weeks after the official elections. Now, UVSA Midwest is able to announce the completion of the Executive Board with five inspiring leaders from across the Midwest region.
“I feel honored to be in this position, and I can only hope to make everyone proud and carry on the legacy,” Phan said.
For the next two years, this new board will be initiating new, creative ideas for VSAs across the Midwest and aim to create a stronger bond between schools and states, with the first event being the annual Summer Extravaganza held in early August. Aside from the traditional events that are hosted, this Executive Board aims to carry out the High School Project, which was started a year ago focusing on Leadership and Cultural development for high school students and building a bridge between students and VSA.
